Battlestar Galactica

Cooperative game where the humans attempt to defeat the Cylons. Among the players, there are Cylon sympathizers and traitors so much of the game play is trying to decide who is and is not on the human side in the game. The object of the game for the humans is to remain alive while fending off all of the Cylon attacks and keeping any traitors at bay. For the Cylons, the goal is to subtly jeopardize the human struggle for as long as possible before being revealed as a Cylon.

The last playing had the Cylon revealed within 5 minutes and the Cyclon still won 3 hours later!

Another epic playing of this game last night. It looked like a clear human loss and then possibly an amazing victory only to have the Cyclon's win in the end! Agony!

Everyone knows I am not a big fan of 'Traitor' games. I was not there the night this was played to score this game, but have played before. If I did score this game, I probably would have scored it low. Surprising too, in that in my first play, Hischak and I needed a VERY specific end game result to happen in order to win as the Cylons. I think we estimated the probability at 5%. And yet, things went our way and the Cylons were victorious. My issue was with being stuck in the brig, and having too many rounds pass while I could do nothing, until announcing I was a Cylon.
HOWEVER, after watching the first 8 episodes of the series, I have a new appreciation for this game's mechanics. Sounds odd, but it definitely helps to watch a few episodes of season one of the show to appreciate this game more. So, when I do officially rate this game at the next playing, it will probably be a higher score.

Battlestar Galactica is a rare game that allows a game within a game. Since you never know if a player is a Cylon or not there is an element of role playing involved that adds to the enjoyment!
