Cosmic Encounter

Players try to establish locations in other Galaxies by battling one another. The first player to establish their population in 5 new galaxies first is the winner. Game play is controlled by decks of cards that indicate which galaxies (teams) can be attacked and cards held in hand determine the outcome of battles. The thing I like about this game is the multiple and varied races and powers. Since you never know what you are going to start with, it keeps the replayability high. Admittedly, sometimes the combination of powers stick the game in a rut, which is what happened in our ranked game...

OK game that I'd probably rate higher if it didn't take as long as it did. This is a 1 hour filler game and not many people are willing to invest that kind of time in a non-main event type of game. I think I'd rather see something like 'permanent alliances' where this turns into a team game of attacking and defending. In one round, a player is your ally and the very next, could be your enemy. Seems the best (and only) strategy is to attempt to get into every skirmish
