Star Trek: Expeditions

Cooperative board game based on the movie from 2009, where players are assigned a main character that has specific special abilities (Spock, Kirk, Bones, and Uhura). The enterprise arrives on a planet that is contemplating membership in the Federation. Upon arrival, Klingons are in the area and hope to claim the planet for their side. Also, civil war is possible among the factions within the planet. The object is for the Star Trek team to earn points in 3 different game tracks: Ecology, Helping the Rebels, and Politics. Points are earned by exploring the planet and completing individual missions that arise (a combination of dice rolling and use of cards / special skills determines the outcome for each story line). On the easy level, the team will most certainly survive, so scoring the most points possible is the goal while completing each story line. The difficulty of the game can be adjusted to make it harder for the Enterprise and crew to even survive to the end of the story.

I agree - It is a decent game that has the potential to score better as the challenge level is increased. However, I do agree that playing on easy was the way to go for the first play. There's nothing I could point to that I didn't really like in the mechanics and the quality of the components is a plus.

Since we played the easy version I feel like we haven't really played it yet. It might be ranked higher once we play a higher difficulty level.
